Born in Virginia Beach, Dr. Burton Sundin is a graduate of the Norfolk Academy, and went on from there to attend Duke University Medical Center. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke in 1993, receiving a degree in both Biology and Art History.
He became a triple graduate of Duke University, having completed medical school at Duke University in 1997 and his residency in Plastic Surgery at Duke in 2003. Dr. Sundin was board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2006.
Extensively trained in all forms of plastic surgery, Dr. Sundin has completed two advanced fellowships. He is a graduate of the world-renowned Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery, where he completed a dedicated hand surgery fellowship. He has also completed an advanced cosmetic surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the guidance of one of the fathers of modern plastic and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Luis Vasconez.
As a respected member of the industry, Dr. Burton Sundin is also a plastic surgery consultant, providing expert advice for multiple companies, as well as providing opinions and depositions for legal cases. He is also a council member for the Gerson-Lehman Group Online Consulting Platform.
